The NRGI is looking for a suitably qualified professional for the position of Africa Research and Data Officer (Anglophone).
The Research and Data Officer will be responsible for a portfolio of work that include the forthcoming update of the Resource Governance Index (RGI) in Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and Nigeria; Open Government Partnership (OGP) and gender and extractives. The role will focus on the coordination, primary data collection, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of interim assessments of African countries for the production of the 2021 RGI; and analysis of reference to gender in natural resource policy in countries under the portfolio.

Job Requirements:
Functional competencies:
- Demonstrates a very good understanding of research and data management, and a commitment to build on existing skills
- Initiative-taker.
- Highly effective at multi-tasking.
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines remains calm and in control even under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Interacts effectively with country staff, managers and directors and consultants. Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
Skills and Experience
- Good analytical and writing skills.
- Good IT skills, including databases and office software packages.
- Excellent oral and written communications and editing skills.
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in relevant field preferred (political science, law, economics, finance/accounting, or international affairs).
Experience:
Three years relevant experience in resource governance and development in Africa, with preference for the basic understanding of the construction of governance Indices.
