PEG delivers Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) asset-based financing to consumers who lack both access to reliable electricity and formal banking services. PEG’s anchor product – a basic solar home system that includes six lights, a phone charger, a radio, and a TV – allows consumers living on $5-10 per day to access clean light for working and studying after hours, avoid harmful air pollution from kerosene based lighting solutions, and also build credit for additional products and services over time.

To date, PEG has raised over $45 million and has over 450 full time staff across Ghana, Ivory Coast and Senegal. PEG has also won numerous awards, including the prestigious 2017 Ashden International Award for excellence in sustainable energy, and was named as one of the “fastest growing companies in Africa” by the London Stock Exchange.

 

The Position

The Regional Business Manager is in overall charge of a defined PEG sales region which includes Service Centres, Direct Sales Managers and team of Direct Sales Reps. He/she is tasked with the delivery of the agreed regional KPIs.

Responsibilities Includes:

  • Achievement of the regional monthly/quarterly/annual sales revenue plan by product category/channel/service centre/DSM team
  • Achievement of agreed regional Sales Quality metrics working closely with the HQ credit team
  • Manage allocated sales budgets within agreed parameters and ensure that the target ROI (as a minimum) is achieved on all activities such as pitch camping and DSM travel investments

  • Ensure that the regional sales resource is adequately sized for purpose (market coverage, customer engagement) and properly skilled for the tasks assigned
  • Focus on Service Centre profitability and efficacy including management of stocks (100% availability at all times) and development of a customer pipeline by proactively marketing the company in SC locations
  • Driving forecast accuracy across the regional teams to facilitate corporate planning and financial forecasts
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders; external (key community influencers, government officials) and internal (cross-functional colleagues)
  • Coach and mentor each DSM to ensure his/her KPI targets are met/exceeded
  • Identify skill gaps in the teams and propose activities to close them
  • Focus on retention of all regional team members (except non-regrettables) to meet agreed “people”targets

The successful candidate must have:

  • At least 7 years core Sales experience in a dynamic and professional business environment (preferably telecom or FMCG) at least the last 2 of which have been spent leading an Area/Regional Sales team
  • Demonstrable success in delivering sales growth in a consistent way
  • Strong leadership skills, a can-do attitude and a willingness to roll up the sleeves and get fully involved at the heart of the business
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment and still prioritise and deliver the core KPIs
  • Data driven with strong analytical skills
