Ashesi University’s Head of Humanities and Social Sciences department invites applications for full-time faculty (or *adjunct faculty) for the position of Assistant Professor (Lecturer in the UK), preferably Associate Professor (Reader in the UK) or higher of Leadership Studies. The mission of Ashesi University is to enhance the ability of students from any academic background and level of professional experience, to perform effectively as principled leaders in all walks of life.
The university’s leadership courses use a holistic approach achieved through interdisciplinary and integrated courses beginning in first year through to fourth year to engage students in comprehensive learning about leadership in applied contexts. Ashesi is committed to an ethical-based education exhibited in our honor code and the overarching articulation of it as Citizenship, Scholarship, and Leadership. The leadership course series integrates these values across a four-year leadership development model for all undergraduate students.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of a nationally and Africa-recognized leadership course series focusing on leadership and service among youth and adults.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completed a terminal degree in an area directly related to leadership studies from an accredited university
- Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching leadership studies courses
- A record of scholarship in the area of leadership studies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding, appreciation, and experience with engaged learning techniques and experiential education pedagogy in face-to-face classrooms and with undergraduate students.
- Practical leadership experience in professional or community-based leadership roles
