A reputable institution invites applications from suitably quaified Ghanaians for the job position in its Legal Department as Research Assistant
Position: Research Assistant (Three) (3) years non-renewable fixed term contract)
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Summarising arguments or evidence in a proceeding and assessing legal issues in the light of the applicable scholarship and case law
- Conducting detailed research on particular topics
- Preparing pre-hearing memoranda and opinions as well as identifying key issues in matters the Line Manager is scheduled to hear
- Assisting the Line Manager in Court
- Taking detailed notes of oral arguments during hearings
- Assisting the Line Manager in related work such as committees and organisational work
- Cite-and fact-checking drafts of ciocurnents; and
- Administration of Court papers and Case Management.
QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENT:
- A minimum of Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Second Class (Lower Division) from a recognised university. Other Competencies
- Excellent research skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Cornputer proficiency
- Drafting skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely when under pressure
- The ability to plan work and manage conflicting priorities
- The capacity to work both independently and in a team setting.
