Job Title: Field Enumerator
Emperiks is founded with the aim of providing monitoring and evaluation services, technical assistance and data solutions to international firms, governments, think tanks and NGOs operating in Africa. Our services cut across sectors such as agriculture, health, transport, education, energy and tourism. We are a team of multi-skilled and experienced M&E specialists, scientists and professionals operating at the top of our fields.
Emperiks has recently won a bid to conduct an independent final evaluation of the Power Innovations in Commercial Agriculture (PICA) Project. With support from USAID, the Integrated Water and Agricultural Development (IWAD) company implemented the Power Innovations in Commercial Agriculture (PICA) Project in the Sisili-Kulpawn Basin (Yagaba) in the Mamprugu Moaduri District of the North East region of Ghana from 2016-2019. The goal of the PICA project is to enhance net incomes of the IWAD irrigated nucleus farm and small holder farmers in the zone of influence through the provision of efficient alternative power systems.
The project focuses on three areas to accomplish this goal:
- Building infrastructure for a solar hybrid power generation system
- Securing the provision of low-cost power for irrigated farming.
- Improving productivity of smallholder out growers through the use of smaller solar applications.
As part of its mandate, Emperiks is to collect qualitative and quantitative data from small holder farmers, staff, donors, implementing partners and other relevant stakeholders. Emperiks, therefore, seeks to recruit highly skilled and motivated individuals as field enumerators for the survey. An enumerator is generally responsible for administering the survey questionnaire using a Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) method.
Key responsibilities:
- Participate in the entire training including a pretesting exercise;
- Undertake data collection by administering questionnaires to the study population;
- Take responsibility and ensure the completeness of each survey questionnaire administered;
- Submit daily activity log reports to central servers;
- Promptly discuss with supervisors all challenges during the fieldwork;
- Advise in details any observations and follow up on suggestions by supervisors; and
- Participate in all scheduled field debriefing activities.
Required Skills or Experience
- At least a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
- Previous data collection experience using tablet technology.
- Experience in conducting field surveys, especially in the PICA Zone of Influence
- Proficiency in Mampruli and Buli
- Be a team player.
- Availability and commitment during the entire survey period.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
