AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Contract Officer.

 

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The Contract Officer will be responsible for contracts tendering, adjudication, negotiation and drafting of contracts to ensure value for money and exhibiting a trustworthy attitude and a high level of integrity.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for drafting and issuing of tenders, answering queries, tender evaluation, negotiations, drafting of Contracts, post Contract award administrative tasks and Contract Closure.
  • Turnaround contracts within Service Levels and approved Budgets.
  • Ensure all contract transactions are carried out in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Conduct market intelligence to establish rates of goods and services.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with Contractors.
  • Maintain a register for Contracts, Variations, Claims, Bonds, etc.
  • Proper documentation and filling of all Contract transactions (hard and soft copies)
  • Produce relevance records as and when required.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure all tasks are performed with the highest regard to Safety, Health and Environment, as outlined in the Company policies
  • Ensure compliance to statutory and Group policy requirements.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification

  • A Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain or equivalent. Possession of Professional Purchasing and Supply certificate will be an advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience preferably in Supply Chain and Logistics business
  • Demonstrate capability and working knowledge in Contracting
  • Knowledge and working experience in the mining industry will be an added advantage

Technical Competencies

  • Ability to generate and prepare reports
  • Demonstrate high level of productivity and quality
  • Should be trustworthy, reliable, confidential, consistent and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate and strong analytical skills
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Ability to develop good working relationships
  • A sense of dedication
  • Sensitivity to potential work related hazards and commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental issues
  • A good team player with drive and initiative
