The sound engineer is responsible to produce the necessary sound to support the church service. This includes creating the music mix, creating an audio mix, and supporting the audio direction of the worship pastor. This position requires attention to detail and a spirit of excellence.
Person Specifications
- Must be able to communicate effectively both written and oral
- Must have public speaking skills
- Mus be able to follow directions
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have a passion for teaching and equipping others
- Must be service oriented
- Must demonstrate conscientiousness in timeliness
- Must be a team player
- Must be a person of integrity
Job Specifications
- Turn on all sound for musicians and singers and ensure that everything is properly working
- Perform proper sound check; includes gain settings, monitor mixes, proper volume settings, and the eq/mixing process
- Check with worship leader and pastor for schedule and any schedule changes
- Adjust sound levels during service appropriately and follow leader’s directions on adjustments
- Record audio of the services
- Follow stage and schedule cues
- Switch off and properly store all sound equipment
- Identify and report any broken or faulty equipment
- Maintain an inventory of current sound equipment
- Carry out repairs, sales or purchases of sound equipment as instructed
- Implement and manage systems and schedules for weekly and yearly goals
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the worship pastor
Job Requirements
- Must have HND or Degree in music arts or related field
- Must have a minimum of 2 years working experience
- Must have experience mixing audio in a live environment
- Must be familiar with the following software:
– Presonus / Studio One
– Ableton Live
- Experience working in a church or in the Christian worship music industry is preferable
