Position Summary
Responsible for Health. Safety. Security, Environmental and Quality support and advise to Ghana operations and assisting the Country Manager in achieving high HSSE standards and performance. Reports to the Country Manager (and Chief HSSEQ)
Responsibilities and Tasks
Ensure necessary Risk Management and HSSEQ support and advice to the Country Manager and Ghana operations
Responsible for defining and implementing an HSSEQ Policy and Plan for Ghana operations
Develop and maintain the HSSEQ department competency and capability. Train and coach the team.
Keep abreast of relevant legislation and regulations of corporate requirements. standards, and make sure relevant information is translated in policies, procedures. rules & instructions to obtain HSSE compliance
- Perform and plan necessary inspections and assurance activities
- Ensure HSSEQ training in Ghana for employees (and contractors as necessary)
- Responsible for development and implementation of an effective Emergency Response Plan, Organisation and Drills
Responsible for the operations security, issue warnings, providing remedial actions and status reporting
- Analyses of events, proposal of risk reducing measures and follow-ups
- Initiate and ensure that investigations of incidents, accidents, (serious) near misses and unsafe working conditions are conducted co a complete and timely manner providing remedial actions to achieve effective incident prevention and avoidance of losses
- Ad as liaison with government agencies in case of HSSE related enquires and inspections
- Actively support and promote a pro-active positive HSSE culture within the entire Ghana organisation (loci contractors) Sat up and implement HSSE Behaviour Based programmes and promotional activities that will improve HSSE awareness and ownership
- HSSE reporting to the Country Manager Chief HSSEQ and government agencies
Qualification and Personal Attributes
- Bachelor or master's degree in Health, Safety and Environment or within Engineering Science
- 10 years' experience in positions within the oil and gas industry, preferably an O&G Operator
- Leadership, ability to work independently and to take decisions
- Experienced in Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Management. Risk Management and Emergency Response
- Operations experience, such as drilling op. and/or production
- Worked internationally and knowledge on applicable authority requirements and industry standards and guidelines
- Strong coaching skills
- Ability to make an impact and validity to the organisation
- Able to recognise best practice but also what is achievable
- Be able to work under pressure with a positive working attitude and a strong sense of responsibility
- Willing to work as an expat in Accra, Ghana
