A reputable Oil Marketing Company wishes to recruit a recent graduate for the position of Accounts Officer to support the Finance and Accounts department of the Company. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Accountant.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing payment vouchers to support all cash and cheque disbursements.
- Preparing bank transfer instructions.
- Administering the petty cash fund, and preparing monthly reports for reimbursement.
- Ensure that cash advances (accountable imprest) are monitored and cleared on a timely basis.
- Issue receipts for all monies received by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
- Prepare and issue monthly statements to customers.
- Prepare invoices for all sales made to customers.
- Prepare bank reconciliations for all the Company’s bank accounts.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records of assets, liabilities, revenue and expenditure, payments and other financial activities.
- Perform other general accounting tasks, including preparing journal entries and financial reports
Knowledge and Skills required
- Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and concepts
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Detail-oriented
- Fluency in oral and written English
- Highly organized
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business Commerce from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 1 year’s relevant work experience.
- Must not be more than 27 years of age at the time of application.
