Job Description
- Location: Accra (2 slots)
- Reports To: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist
- Duration: 17th June 2019 – 20th December 2019 (6 months)
The mission of Global Communities (formerly CHF International) is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe. Global Communities is seeking a Ghanaian national for the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant for the soon ending 5-year YIEDIE program in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation. This program is designed to create jobs and business opportunities for disadvantaged urban youth in Ghana and will focus on capacity building/training for youth development in the construction sector in Ghana.
This position may require frequent travel within the country, and requires coordination and analytical skills as well as the technical skills associated with data management and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The main duties of the Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant are as follows:
- Assist the MEL Specialist to implement the Project Monitoring Plan; including gathering data from partner organisations responsible for field operations, analyzing data to track project indicators, preparing progress reports to satisfy reporting requirements.
- Update the learning framework periodically with information provided by the MEL Specialist
- Participate in field visits to monitor project activity implementation
- Monthly update the completions data with data provided by the MEL Specialist
- Monthly update the YIEDIE internal output indicator tracker with data provided by the MEL Specialist
- Support screening exercise at TVETs institutions
- Verify youth screened and trained by TVETs institutions
- Monthly update the TVETs Screening Tracking table with reported screened YIEDIE Applicants
- Other activities as may be assigned by the MEL Specialist

Required Skills or Experience
- A minimum of first degree in Urban Planning, Statistics, Sociology or a related discipline.
- Candidate should have completed his/her National Service.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience with commensurate responsibility (preferably with an INGO or development agency).
- Proficiency with statistical packages and strong IT skills in Microsoft Suite particularly Excel, SPSS, Access.
REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to develop and carry out work plans and solve problems independently
- Demonstrated commitment to a hands-on approach to the job (willingness to undertake regular field visits as and when needed)
- Self-motivated and able to meet tight deadlines
- Strong analytical skills
- Comfortable with team-oriented approach to work, preferably in a multi-cultural setting.
