AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as Surveyor.

ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT

The Surveyor is accountable for the set out, survey and control of all survey related activities in all areas of the Dams, Pipeline corridor and TSF areas. He is accountable for the implementation and survey of survey specifications, standards and safe workmanship to ensure the timely completion of TSF, pipeline corridor and Dams.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Safety for the areas under the incumbent’s control
  • Control of HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.
  • Safety behaviour demonstration consistent with AGAG’s vision and values.
  • Lead by example to create a safe working environment, where risks are assessed and managed so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.
  • Timely investigation of incidents and accidents with reporting.
  • Using AGA’s How We Work guidelines, support the Contractor in compliance with the guidelines.
  • Ensure the contractor survey team deliver the survey targets as per planning of project.
  • Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action
  • Proactively control the construction survey activities to avoid potential project cost and schedule overruns.
  • Ensure cost impacts in area of accountability are evaluated and recorded.
  • Identify and communicate potential cost reduction initiatives.
  • Evaluate and sign off the contractor’s survey quantities, volumes and progress claim.
  • Weekly, monthly reporting, produce accurate and timely information that can clearly convey the status of safety, cost, schedule and quality for the survey works.
  • Advise progress and KPI status in a timely manner to the management team, particularly potential cost, and schedule or quality variances.
  • Review and provide feedback regarding contractor’s progress claims.
  • Stop any unsafe work in a safely manner.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification

  • BSc. Geodetic / Geomatics Engineering
  • Preferably applicable business qualification (e.g. MBA)

Experience 

  • Three years’ proven experience in construction survey, experience in TSF, pipelines and earth dams will be an advantage.
  • Experienced in HSE
  • Experienced in QA/QC Management

Technical Competencies

  • Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Word, Project and Excel
  • Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing
