Position Purpose
Responsible for applying general knowledge of Environment, Health and Safety practices and standards. Provides knowledge of less complex issues, solutions and problems through the following areas of focus: implementation of EHS strategy, maintenance and continuous improvement of EHS results, shaping of the internal EHS culture and management of the external EHS brand. EHS Specialists provide general knowledge of EHS practices and standards across all EHS areas or within a specific area of focus (e.g., compliance, audit).

Develop EHS competencies in the new LBC organization

Develop and maintain a vehicle safety program
This position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of Cargill Environment, Health and Safety programs and regulatory compliance, within the cocoa buying stations and district warehouses to ensure effective and proactive programs are in place to enable the business to achieve a zero incident safety culture.
The EHS Coordinator is accountable for training and educating employees and contractors on environment, health and safety policies and procedures to ensure the development of a sustainable EHS program and continual improvement.
The Coordinator is accountable for Cargill EHS management system partly responsible for the execution of internal, external and third party audits including customers, regulatory bodies, etc.
As EHS coordinator, you will maintain supplies of PPE’s required by the company for their effective and efficient operation.
He or she will support with investigating, reporting and evaluating environmental and safety complaints and incidents in line with Corporate and regulatory requirements.
EHS Coordinator deputies on EHS issues in the absence of the the EHS Manager.
Key areas in which you will participate additionally include:

Management of security at the cocoa buying stations and district warehouses.

Responsible for the daily operation of the security personnel assigned by the security service provider.
Principal Accountabilities
Collaborate with all stakeholders to support and promote EHS initiatives, improve awareness and understanding, and be accountable for measuring and ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory laws and requirements. Present annual EHS plans, goals, objectives and results.
Manage EHS record keeping and prepare and organize EHS files for audits. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop sustainable EHS programs and processes. Manage change to effectively implement strategies and tactics identified in reviews, audits, permit processes, and corporate initiatives.
Manage the Fleet safety program for LBC cars.
Manage data from IVMS to support leadership in managing safe driving behaviour

Manage training program so all drivers do have received adequate safe driving training.

Plan, coordinate and monitor environmental and industrial hygiene surveys, risk assessments and studies to discover and determine hazards/risks that may affect stakeholders safety. Reduce our environmental footprint within the community.
Provide a visible EHS leadership presence at the cocoa buying stations and district warehouses. Maintaining supplies/PPE’s required by the employees and contractors. Participate activities including inspections, BBS observations, team meetings, permit generations, and training sessions
Acts as contact for Regulatory/Inspectoration bodies to review environmental and industrial performance, respond to questions and lead investigations of environmantal complaints and safety incidents and agreed corrective/preventive actions implementations, work with operations to ensure effectiveness.
Oversee implementation of required training and performance management systems. Assist management to assess current environmental, safety and health program needs and any other assigned duties.
Provide guidance to security contract staff and organize quarterly meetings with security service provider on performance of guards and other issues with the security service provider. Manage security breaches (stealing, trespassing, drunkenness, unsafe behavior and unsafe equipment from third parties.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Science, EHS or Engineering or other equivalents
-
Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in EHS coordination or management in a manufacturing or field operation environment.

Must be willing to accept accountability and hold others accountable
-
Proactive with good time management skills
-
Experience with Vehicle Safety Programs.
-
Good driving skills
-
Strong knowledge and aptitude in Environment, Health and Safety management systems. Additional knolwdge in management systems such as ISO 14001 and
-
OHSAS 18001 will be an added advantage.

Farmiliar with Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety regulatory affiars and compliance processes.

Knowledge in Environment and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems Auditing/Compliance

Ability to teach and effectively communicate thoughts, ideas and vision to all levels of the organization

Excellent written and oral communications skills

Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems; make sound judgments and uncompromising decisions
