The German Association of Rural Women (dlv) is an independent organisation that was founded in 1948 with the aim to improve the situation of women in rural areas. The organisation is dedicated to developing measures for a better infrastructure and is working towards securing economic livelihood for rural women and their families. The organisation has about 500,000 members ail across Germany. With its project in Ghana, div seeks to strengthen the professional
interests of women in Ghana's agricultural and food sectors and to contribute to an equal participation in the economic and personal development opportunities of women in rural areas.
Dlv intervention areas in Ghana are: processing of rice, nutrition education, lobbying and advocacy, as well as exchange visits. The div project in Ghana is commissioned under the "One World - No Hunger" Special Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) and is part of the programme "Green Innovation Centres for Agriculture and Food Sector" implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). For implementation of the project, div is seeking to recruit a competent and committed candidate for the following position in Accra.
Project Coordinator (F/M) (full time)
Experience & skills:
- Support the steering and planning of project activities in Ghana through the dlv office
- Responsibly coordinate and organise these project activities
- Monitoring & evaluation of dlv activities in the different areas of intervention in Ghana
- Finances and Administration - ensure administrative procedures of project activities: Monitor and pay all bills related to project activities; posting of relevant project documents and bills to div office Germany; other administrative tasks related to the
- Responsibly organise contracts and cash book reports
- Ensure good & transparent communication with div office Germany and div partners
- Willingness to travel regularly to project regions Volta and Brong Ahafo
- Build dose working relationship with project partners
- Identification with the project objective of rural women's empowerment
- Writing quarterly reports
Requirement:
- University degree. preferably in Agriculture, Nutrition, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development studies or related fields
- Experiences in Project Management & Admin., preferably in international Cooperation
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience
- Fluent in written & spoken English and local languages (Twi, Ewe, etc.)
- Preferable, regional knowledge of rural areas in Ghana (esp. Volta Region and Brong Ahafo Region)
- Preferable, knowledge in the field of nutrition, rice production or Eobbying and advocacy
- Ability to defend the interest of rural women
- Strong sense for and interest in Gender issues
- Sound knowledge of common computer programs (Microsoft Office 2010, Excel, Internet)
- Diligent, wellorganised and team-oriented performance
