Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ghanaians for the position of General Manager – Agribusiness in a reputable Financial Institution (FI)
Summary of Role
• The General Manager Agribusiness is to oversee the entire agricultural operation portfolio of the institution and expected to work closely with the Managing Director and the Board and also ensure proper coordination between staff of the division and maintain close liaison with other departments and units, as appropriate, in the discharge of its functions
Responsibilities
Business Processes
• Lead the agricultural division in identifying, evaluating and implementing potential bankable agricultural projects
• Provide technical support and strategy to position the FI as the premier bank for agricultural development in Ghana.

• Demonstrate clear understanding of numerous agricultural value chains in the country
• Directly supervise activities of staff in the Agribusiness division
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of agricultural project finance and implemented by government and developmental partners in the country
• Improve revenue and profitability for the Agribusiness division
• Use innovation and speed to inspire and implement business solutions
• Maximise revenue sources by leveraging products and services that increase fees and commissions
• Work in partnership with other business functions to ensure that products and services are developed in line with modern trends in the agricultural sector and meet customers requirement
Risk Management and Monitoring
• Lower cost and risk by providing financing through the strongest actors along the agricultural value chain
• Facilitate and manage the risk management processes and documentation across the entire agribusiness division
• Institute measures and processes to improve appraisal of Agri credits, deepen the processes for pre and post disbursement monitoring to improve the health of the Agric sector loan portfolio
• Develop and implement a zero tolerance policy for new NPLs in the Agric sector portfolio, work with the monitoring and recovery division to improve recovery of existing NPLs and institute measures to rehabilitate existing non-performing loans with revival potential
• Ensure debt recovery procedures are fully effective and all available recovery options are utilised to maximise recovery outcomes to minimise loan losses through effective recovery of arrears and bad debt
• Continuously facilitate the upgrade and laying down of uniform operational manuals, standardised credit processes for the Agribusiness division covering policies, procedures and compliance’s
• Facilitate analytical review and or quantitative analysis of the trends of loan portfolio health and customer base on a regular basis
Legal
• Monitor and ensure credit related regulatory and legal compliances are followed thoroughly by the key role holders across departments
Leadership Role
• Monitor performance of the team including promoting customer centricity at all levels within the team
• Build, develop and motivate a high performing team committed to achieving success through each other
• Ensure that team members are developed to achieve their maximum potential whilst coaching them to build awareness of their strength / development needs
• Identify training needs, recommend, guide, rotate, monitor and follow up in order to improve staff competencies
• Provide objectives translating and prioritizing into business performance measures
Others
• Any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned from time to time to meet the objectives of the organisation
Qualification Required & Experience
• Master’s Degree in Agribusiness/Agricultural Economics/Economics/MBA/Agriculture or other related field from recognised institution with a minimum graduate degree in Agriculture
• A minimum of 15 years banking experience
• At least 5 years of working in an agribusiness unit at a senior level at a bank
• Professional qualification in banking a plus
Skills
• Demonstrate ability to make sound technical and managerial decisions that foster successful project implementation
• Foster successful project implementation having regard, where necessary, to international methods of project implementation
• Demonstrated experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team of experts
• Good analytical and report writing skills
• Good computer skills
