A licensed Cocoa Buying Company based in Kumasi seeks to recruit a MANAGING DIRECTOR

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee preparation and execution of cocoa buying budget: by ensuring cocoa target volumes and quality parameters are met and zero outstanding cash at the end of each season.
  • Create and implement operational strategy: managing budget timelines, work plans and staffing, ensuring the timely and successful delivery of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual operational reports to the Board.
  • Create and maintain an innovative and enthusiastic working environment at all levels of the company and provide high quality supervision to staff.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures that conform to industry regulations.
  • Ensure that day-to-day controls are established through well coordinated internal controls and record keeping systems for - effectiveness, efficiency and profitability of the company's business.
  • Drive performance culture through the establishment of a robust performance management system.
  • Provide strong leadership and supervision to management and other staff in their day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with requirements of relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Disseminate the organisations strategy/mission statement and plans to the staff and implementing appropriate reward/recognition, coaching and corrective practices to align personnel with company goals.
  • Develop and support the company's strategic alliances and partnerships.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Board.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A first degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related fields and must have MBA or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Professional qualification such as CIMA ACCA, CA, CFA, etc will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 7 10 years' relevant working experience, including at least 5 years of managerial experience in cocoa buying sector.
  • Proven experience in cocoa industry, associated value chains, cocoa farming communities and working with various segments of the sector.
  • Experience at reporting to Board of Directors at Executive Managerial Level
  • Ability to effectively engage with policymakers, key government officials and community leaders in the country.
  • Ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment, with the capacity to remain flexible and adapt to change
  • Strong interpersonal. problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative skills
  • Excellent verbal communication (English, Twi) and written communication, including the ability to produce clear presentations and reports
  • Proficient in MS Office (including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the cocoa growing communities in Ghana
