AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The purpose of the role is to execute training plans, maintain the quality and effectiveness of all training courses run on site or externally, ensure effective administration of learning by arranging facilities and courses in an effective manner. All training activities should be properly coordinated to align with training strategy and initiatives to achieve overall training objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Execute day to day Training and Development plans and in accordance with Training strategy within the HR Department and mine-wide.
- Support the delivery of employee inductions in line with existing onboarding procedures and plans within the HR department.
- Assist in conducting a comprehensive training need analysis for employees in various functional areas.
- Maintain up to date training records and registers of all training done in the section and mine wide. Ensure all records are properly kept on employee’s folders.
- Perform Training activities to ensure the delivery of approved Training and Development Budget targets within specified timeframes, costs and related KPIs.
- Give early notice of upcoming training programs to enable employees and their Managers prepare adequately prior to the program.
- Liaise with other Training Officers and appropriate persons who are involved in the training activities including engineering, processing, mining training and supervisory personnel to ensure training programs are rolled out effectively.
- Assist in the collation of all training reports mine wide on weekly and monthly basis.
- Coordinate communication with external facilitators, transport and logistics arrangement and site access of external facilitators.
- Demonstrate Safety Leadership and improve the Culture across the Training and Development Department regarding Safety, Health, and Sustainable Development.
- Support the implementation of all environmental requirements for the HR Department and integrate this work into the Department’s budget.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- University Degree in HR Management, Industrial Psychology or Social Sciences
Experience
- Not less than 3 years’ experience in Training and Development role within the mining industry
Technical Competencies
- Human Resources Functional Knowledge with expertise in Training and Development with specific to Talent Management
- Proficient in the use of MicroSoft Excel and PowerPoint Applications
- Conversant with the Ghana Labour Laws
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and to make decisions in a manner consistent with established Company policy and Employment laws
- Ability to identify opportunities, diagnose problems and develop solutions
