The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) is a voluntary, not for profit organization that undertakes advocacy and service delivery in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Ghana.  PPAG is a Member Association (MA) of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).  It is governed by respectable volunteers who are the members of the Association. The Governing body, formulate policies which are implemented by staff.

Job Description

Report To: Programmes Manager

The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), an NGO working in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), in close collaboration with RFSU (the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education), a Swedish nonprofit organization that works with public opinion formation on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights as well as Information and Education about sexuality Invites result-oriented and committed person to apply for the following vacant position.

The project will disseminate Reproductive Health Information on safe abortion through RH Champions, SISTAS and BRODAS club activities as well as radio interviews and IEC Materials such as Leaflet, Posters, Fact sheets and T-shirts. The project will influence and participate in the development of the district and regional action plans to inform increased access to safe abortion. The project will also identify and recruit CSOs and empower them to engage with duty bearers on safe abortion provision through partnership.

Job Purpose:

To coordinate and ensure the successful implementation of project activities under the RFSU Project.

Key Responsibilities:

The person will carry out the following duties in close cooperation with other staff:

  • Coordinate, plan and ensure implementation of project activities
  • Establish and maintain contact with district stakeholders
  • Identify SRH needs in the project area and initiate innovate activities to address them
  • Compile monthly/quarterly and other reports as required by the project schedule
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of all financial returns and programme report (monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annually)
  • Ensure inventory of all assets and commodities in the project area.
  • Ensure efficient use of funds and resources for implementation
  • Ensure adequate training of community volunteers (Peer Educators, CBS Agents etc)
  • Prepare quarterly forecast for implementation
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience

The Person Must:

  • Have a first degree in the Sciences, Social Sciences/Psychology with minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in a similar position.
  • A second degree will be an advantage.
  • Have a good knowledge in Reproductive and Sexual Health and its related issues
  • Be highly skilled in the use of the computer
  • Have a high sense of responsibility, accuracy and judgment
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and for long hours
  • Must have good innovative, proactive and goal oriented skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Be able to communicate effectively
  • Must be Youth Friendly
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to travel at short notice
