Job Description
- Department: Risk Management
- Location: Head Office
Job Purpose:
The primary function of this position is to identify, evaluate, measure, monitor, and control risk inherent in the Company’s operations according to Basel II Principles. This function involves managing credit risk, market risk, operational risk and any other risk that the company is exposed to in an integrated manner.
Key Responsibility:
- To effectively manage the enterprise –wide risk of the Company.
General Duties:
- Design and implement an overall risk management process for the organization, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur
- Perform risk assessment: Analyze current risks and identifying potential risks that are affecting the company
- Perform risk evaluation: Evaluate the company’s previous handling of risks, and compare potential risks with criteria set out by the company such as costs and legal requirements
- Establish the acceptable risk levels for the company
- Explain the external risk posed by corporate governance to stakeholders
- Create business continuity plans to limit risks
- Review new major contracts or internal business proposals
- Participate in strategic decision making as a member of the Executive Committee (EXCO), Assets & Liabilities Committee (ALCO), Product Development Committee.
Required Skills or Experience
- Minimum of a 1st Degree in relevant area with 10 – 15 years’ work experience in Risk Management.

- A 2nd degree qualification is an added advantage.
- Must be a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Technical Competencies:
- Sound knowledge & Skills in Risk Management
- Knowledge of Savings & Loans products & services.
- Strong credit skills and ability to identify risk.
- Ability to analyze financial statements
- Competence in analysis of financial information and forecasting.
- Adequate management and office administration concepts.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to plan daily/periodic operations.
- Familiar with computer processing/applications.
Personality Competencies
- Strong interpersonal Skills
- Communication skills.
- Well developed analytical and problem solving skills
- Team player
- Proactive
- High sense of integrity
- Analytical Skills
