We are seeking for a candidate to fill the role of the General Manager Operations to manage our industrial garment production facilities with over 20 or more production lines in Tema, Ghana. He/she will directly report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be managing at least 3 to 4 Managers from various functions and about 2,000 people . The candidate must be commercially driven while at the same time have a hands-on approach to management of the factory operations.
Other responsibilities include:
- Manage Sales and Merchandiser team to achieve the budget and grow the business
- Manage daily production schedules and warehouse to ensure on time, accurate and complete delivery of finished goods and that customer requirements are met.
- Shoulder up full range of day to day production responsibilities and carry out the production planning designated by the group;
- Manage the operation within agreed KPI's
- Provide the correct skills set to perform the business demands of the business and customer.
- Lead the production team to improve the overall productivity and quality, control cost, reduce production lead-time and maintain a stable workforce;
- Work with centralized HR, Admin, logistics and IT department to enhance the production and operation environment
- Create a strong relationships with all local suppliers of materials and services related to the manufacturing of the products
- Use Continuous Improvement (CI) or Lean Initiatives to study flow production and improve production performance, output efficiency.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate must have a very strong production experience ideally in industrial garment industry. The candidate must be able to work effectively under pressure, exercise good judgement, and capable to train and coach staffs.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree holder in Clothing & Textile and/or Management Studies is preferred;
- Industrial Engineering qualified
- Minimum 10 years' experience in garment production of which at least 5 years in managerial or executive position
- Proven track records in managing a large-scale (over 500 workers) garment manufacturing operation.
- Conversant with production planning, production management, quality control, budgeting and other commercial related matters
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Must be willing to be based in TEMA, GHANA
