Purpose
To provide technical support for the Akyem operation which involves the optimization of the metallurgical performance of the process plant according to budget KPI’s.
Essential Duties
- Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every employee under or assigned to his/her supervision.Provide technical assistance to the Akyem process operating personnel to ensure optimum metallurgical performance of the process plant.
- Responsible for Metallurgical Laboratory and personnel to perform metallurgical test work and routine metallurgical functions as required.
- Work with the maintenance team to achieve efficient process plant equipment performance and availability.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement programs which will assist in enhancing the performance of the Akyem process plant operation, including but not limited to mine-to-mill initiatives
- Assist in the preparation of production forecast, process operating budgets and monthly process reports
- Establish and advise operating parameters to mill production personnel.
- Responsible to develop and maintain processing/metallurgical models i.e. VCM (Value Chain Model), VDT’s (Value Driver Trees) and JKSimmet.
- Accountable for ownership of the MOS elements PO11, PO19, PO30 and PO31.
- Assist in the preparation of production forecast, process operating budgets and monthly process reports
- Provide input to the Business Planning process, including metallurgical recovery functions, throughput predictions, reagent and consumable consumptions.
- Investigate and research new technology and equipment which may improve plant performance.
- Assist in the management of the on-site contract assay laboratory.
Training & Experience
- Degree in Extractive Metallurgy or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6-8 years’ experience in metalliferous mining, with a minimum of 3 years in gold processing.
- Process experience in crushing, SAG and ball mill grinding, Leach/CIL, elution and electro winning.
- High level of communication skills – verbal and written.High level of PC skills and computer literacy
- Working knowledge of budget and cost control in a process environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of the statutory regulations relevant to safety and the environment for the mining industry.
