Farmerline works to reinvent how the world thinks and invest in the lives of small-scale farmers. They are working to help farmers produce and sell food. They are bold and systemic thinkers but operate lean and nimble. They train and support a network of smartphone empowered field agents to bring vital services and information to farmers doorsteps. Products like high quality but affordable fertilizers, fungicides, and seeds. Information services like weather forecast, market prices, financial & nutrition tips. They are building the “Amazon” for farmers where they can access these services and other resources at an affordable price, quality and right in their community. They have supported many organizations with their tools and knowledge to improve the way they work with farmers.

About the role

Farmerline is looking for a Communications Executive that is both a strong self-starter and a team player, has strong written and verbal communications skills, and is passionate about sharing Farmerline’s story with audiences worldwide. The executive will be the go-to team member for creating Farmerline’s public-facing and internal content, they will be a leader in sharing Farmerline’s voice, its successes, lessons, challenges, and services to key audiences such as potential talent, clients, customers, investors, and advocates. They
will shape and execute this strategy using a variety of approaches including web and social media tools, marketing campaigns, and offline materials.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute a communications strategy to share Farmerline’s story and
  • services to diverse audiences, such as potential clients, customers, investors, and advocates, using a variety of approaches, such as web and social media tools, newsletters, marketing campaigns, and offline materials
  • Work closely across Farmerline’s business team, design team, and tech team to
  • translate information, lessons, experiences into written content and materials to improve company visibility
  • Manage social media accounts, web content, and newsletters, increasing
  • Farmerline’s online audience and engagement
  • Write and contribute to the design of offline content such as videos, brochures,
  • reports, and marketing materials
  • Take initiative to lead new projects and teams to quickly develop new content as
  • needed
  • Track content engagement using online and offline analytical tools to continuously
  • monitor and improve the effectiveness of the communications strategy and channels.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in communications, marketing, or advertising preferred
  • Previous experience living and/or working in the developing world, and
  • cross-cultural communication skills preferred; Openness to Ghanaian culture and willingness to embrace cross-cultural differences necessary
  • Interest in agriculture, ICT, or financial technology a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator. Fluency in English required.
  • Professional proficiency in French is an asset
  • Skills using content production and design applications (Adobe, Canva, etc.) is an
  • asset
  • Self-starter who is effective working both independently and as part of a team
  • Analytical appetite to use data to continuously improve strategies
  • Fast and flexible, with attention to detail. Enjoys working in a dynamic,
  • start-up-style environment

Success Metrics

  • Increased content engagement on all media platforms including social media –
  • especially LinkedIn.
  • Increased lead generation as a result of engagement from relevant content.
  • At least one case study highlighting how Farmerline’s technology services were
  • used to impact the lives of small-scale farmers globally and also advance the work of B2B client and partners.
  • Social media visibility framework – a strategy that outlines how/when Farmerline
  • should be pushing content on social media
  • Multiple marketing campaigns to attract further visibility
  • An updated content bank that can expedite funding application and partnership
  • proposals.
