Dimensions
Supervises, instructs and mentors junior mining engineers and technicians.
Purpose
To supervise and carry out department functions including: short and long term mine design and scheduling, project analyses and feasibility studies, ore control, reconciliation, geotechnical analysis, mine engineering systems analysis and design, and preparation of detailed reports.
Essential Duties
- Supervises, instructs and mentors junior mining engineers and technicians.
- Develops and implements mine plans.
- Works closely with other departments including Mine Operations, Process Operations, Geology, Project Construction, Accounting, Land and Environmental
- Prepares, reviews and evaluates mine designs, mine plans, ore control, project feasibility and productivity studies. *
- May be assigned projects of broad scope that will require the interface and/or functioning as a project leader to coordinate work of other engineering and support staff.
- Assist supervisor in mine engineering loss-control functions.
- Assist supervisor in preparing operating and capital budgets.
- Ensure the execution of following functions:
> Short-term (monthly) production scheduling and budgeting
> Waste dump, stockpile and road designs and scheduling
> Analysis of costs and cutoff grades o Production accounting
> Pit slope monitoring
> Stockpile inventory accounting
> Mine equipment studies
> Blast pattern design
> Reconciliation of block model to actual production
> Reconciliation of predicted to actual equipment requirements
> Productivity analyses/improvement studies
> Compilation and analysis of technical data

Training & Experience
Knowledge:
Minimum requirement B.S. degree in Engineering and minimum 4 years of experience in a specialty area are necessary
Experience:
Mining or heavy mineral industry experience is required
Skills and Abilities:
Requires advanced level technical communications, personal interaction and presentations skills
Working Conditions
- Primarily office, but may be required to access mining areas, rough terrain, or exploration sites on a daily basis.
- Must be sensitive to cultural differences at the operations within the Company.
