AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is currently on a journey to redevelop the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, efficient and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined. We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated person to join our dedicated team as HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER (LOCAL EMPLOYMENT DESK).
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The Human Resources Officer – Local Employment Desk, will provide administrative support services to the HR Recruiting Team in the recruitment and selection processes for suitable persons from the local community to fill vacant positions within AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist the HR Superintendent – Staffing, with the recruitment and selection of suitable persons from the community to fill vacant positions.
- Attract suitable local applicants by placing job postings within the community and assisting in the dissemination of the Company’s programs and plans on recruitment with the local community.
- Serve as the first point of contact for local community members seeking employment with AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine and AGAG’s third party contractors.
- Establish and maintain a database of job seekers from within the local community.
- Accountable for the quality and confidentiality of the local employment database.
- Provide HR support services in matters relating to recruitment, selection, induction and onboarding of all new recruits in line with established policies and procedures.
- Provide credible HR advisory services to line managers within the context of the law, HR Policies, employment conditions and any other negotiated agreement.
- Analyzing and generating required HR analytical reports to support management decision making process, including preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly HR operational reports.
- Analyze,develop and maintain a strong relationship with stakeholders within the community.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualification
- Degree in Human Resources Management or related qualification
Experience
- Not less than 3 years’ operational experience in a similar or related role (preferably within the mining industry)
Technical Competencies
- Strong Human Resources Functional Knowledge
- Good knowledge of the Ghana Labour Law
- Ability to screen applicants to identify the best match for open positions.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and to make decisions in a manner consistent with established Company policy and the Labour Law
- Ability to identify opportunities, diagnose problems and develop solutions
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficient in the use of MicroSoft Excel and PowerPoint Applications
- Good communication skills
- The ability to build and maintain effective relationship
- Good report writing skills
- Team player
