Job Description
Abt Associates Inc., a US-based company, is implementing a USAID–funded malaria control project, VectorLink. The project has been implementing indoor residual spraying (IRS) in Ghana since 2008 in selected districts in the Northern Region with the main office in Tamale. For 2019, Abt Associates Inc. is planning IRS implementation in nine districts in the Northern region including Chereponi district
For the VectorLink project, Abt Associates is seeking a qualified individual to fill the temporary position of an IRS District Operations Coordinator for Chereponi district. Successful candidates will be contracted for up to 6 months. S/he will report directly to the Country Operations Manager. Location: Chereponi, Northern Region
Responsibilities include:
- Management of IRS campaign in assigned district including quantification of insecticides and equipment needs; identification and recruitment of spray teams; logistical planning for IRS and other vector control resources distribution and transportation; insecticide and equipment storage, security, and environmental safety; and coordination with district health management team and other counterparts.
- The District Operations Coordinator will support supervision and monitoring of the field data collection and implementation of education and communication strategies.
- S/he will work with project environmental compliance officer to ensure all risk prevention and environmental compliance measures are in place during IRS.
- Represent the project at district and community level meetings and serve as a liaison between the project team stakeholders and beneficiaries.
- Prepare weekly and other activity reports as directed by the project operations manager.
- Frequently travel to field sites to support and oversee district and community level operations and activities
Required Skills or Experience
Qualification Required & Experience include:
- Minimum, Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience. ,
- Demonstrated leadership and team work to produce high quality work in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Strong management and planning skills for tasks and budgets.
- Excellent interpersonal communications and organizational skills.
- Experience with USAID funded programmes and other international development experience preferred.
- Experience in the planning and implementation of IRS will be an added advantage
- English language fluency and good writing skills required
