Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's world class Sunrise Dam operation is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. This large-scale underground operation employs more than 500 people and produces approximately 230,000 ounces of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities and recently celebrated 20 years of uninterrupted gold production.
We are now seeking an experienced Planning Mining Engineer to join our Underground Mining team based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Senior Mining Engineer and working with a team of engineers this role provides the direction for the underground mining operations by generating mine plans. This role is FIFO 8/6 from Perth.
The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:
- Be an active safety leader in line with the companies values, policies and procedures
- Produce all necessary designs to the support the underground development and production budget
- Monitor and track operational execution against mine plans
- Identify, assess and manage risks to the execution of the mine plan
- Provide effective communication of all plans and identified risks to all stakeholders across the operation
- Identify and implement improvements across the underground operation
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in Mining Engineering
- Advanced Microsoft Office software skills
- Experience with mine planning software
- Previous experience in underground mine planning
- Experience of drill and blast methods and practices (bulk open stopping)
- Knowledge of ventilation systems
- Knowledge and understanding of mine infrastructure and reticulation systems
- Practical underground mining experience
- Good communication skills
- Permanent work rights in Australia
- A National Police Clearance
