Dimensions
All Mine Operations Civil & Structural Works. Tails dam expansions coordinations and general maintenance activities including PIF projects from various departments
Purpose
Support both the Operations Services and other departments by performing the necesary planning, engineering,construction and project management duties required to deliver mining civil projects of all dimension and scope, from their scoping stage through their execution, start up and turnover stges.
Essential Duties
- Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every mine worker under or assigned to his/her supervision
- Coordinate plan and schedule project activities from execution stages through to the completion stage with strict adherence to the Newmont standars.
- Develop project design criteria, detailed engineering drawings,scope of work,project execution plan and proposal documentation for engineering and construction bidding purposes for every project.
- Develop schedules & budgets, and monitor progress against baselines
- Develp BOQ’s, cost estimates and perfom evaluations to support project business cases including preparations of AFEs.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects, between 5 to 8 projects at the same time, manage the activities of engineering consultants and construction contractors.
- Perform QA/QC duties on all assigned projects with little or no supervision from the engineering department.
- Provide field engineering and construction management support, lead project meetings including: pre-construction meetings, construction progress meetings and construction closeout meetings and must produce minutes for stakeholders review
- Work closely with the Mine Engineering group to develp plans required for tails dam expansions and other civil projects requiring coordination with Mine Operations and allied departments.
Training & Experience
Knowledge
- Minimum reguirement: Bsc degree in Civil Engineering, or Construction related degree
- Must be a member of a recognised engineering professiona body
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years experience working in the mining industry.
- Mining , contruction,utilities or other heacy industry experience is preferred.
- Project engineering construction experience is essential
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other mine engineering software packages is important
- Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, and Word & Powerpoint is essential
- Must have good writing skilss
- Must have good communication and organisational skills
- Must be a teamplayer
Working Conditions
- Duties are split between office and field work. Employee will be required to access construction sites, process plant areas,mining areas and possibly rough terrain on daily basis.
- Must be able to work long hours through Monday and Saturday
- Must be sensitive to cultural differences at the operations within the Company
