Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (Wood) is seeking a Project Finance Manager to support the West Africa Energy Program (WAEP) under the Power Africa Expansion Program. WAEP will target advancing the energy sector, specifically as related to facilitating the financial closure of power transactions and strengthening the enabling environment for private sector investment in West Africa’s power sector, while addressing key constraints to such investment and strengthening the human and institutional capacity of key national power sector entities, including utilities, on-grid connections, and regional power trade. Service geographies will target Anglo and Franco-phone West Africa, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (“DRC”), Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. Projects will be performed in close coordination with US funding agencies and local stakeholder counterparts. Extensive regional experience and knowledge of USAID financing tools is highly preferred. This full-time position will require periodic travel to in-country project sites as well as to client meetings in the USA. Wood’s Finance Manager will be responsible for all financial matters of this regional program and ensure that financial procedures comply with each activity’s Management Plan; the successful candidate will report directly to the project COP.
Work assignment location: Accra, Ghana
Contract length: Four (4) years with possible option years.
Position Responsibilities:
- Track and analyze engagement activity expenses per CLIN
- Liaise with each COR to ensure billing and collections are accurately performed
- Oversee all activity financial management operations and reporting activity accruals and expenditures inclusive of grants under contract mechanisms
- Report to Wood’s COP on progress, needs and issues
- Support Wood’s Home Office staff in review of project financial metrics and development of monthly project invoices
Skills / Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of working experience in financial management, especially for power projects in West Africa, is desired
- Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in business or finance, with a Master’s degree in financial management, economics or other similar fields
- Understanding of international best practices in power system economics, business models, contract procedures, project follow-up and risk management
- Experience working and living in developing and/or post-conflict countries, with a preference for experience in the aforementioned countries
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple reporting priorities
