Job Description
Job Purpose
- The sourcing superintendent is responsible for organizing, coordinating and managing a reliable supply of fresh fruits corresponding to customer orders and raw material specification to the fruit drying plant.
Job Duties
- Carries out supplier assessment, supports supplier’s approval and maintains approved supplier list.
- Maintains approved chemical lists for suppliers and update it every year.
- Ensures raw material compliance with EC regulations in terms of residues and carries out quarterly residue monitoring.
- Responsible for the technical training of farmers.
- Drafts training plan for pineapple and mango farmers and makes sure they are trained.
- Responsible for maintaining and developing the quality of the raw material based on specifications.
- Maintains relations with growers and supports and advices growers.
- Communicates and enforces raw material specifications towards growers.
- Monitors certification of the suppliers (Global GAP, organic, fairtrade)
- Leads the sourcing officers who support the sourcing superintendent in carrying out quality checks in the field and at collection points.
- Implements and monitors all raw material related standards and certification in cooperation with the certification coordinator.
- May be required to take part in meetings and committees as per management decision.
- Leads extension officers in training, extension and data collection.
- Distributes inputs to farmers to produce raw material.
- Carries out yield assessments and yield estimates.
- Maintains the database for the supply planning and makes sure that the necessary data is collected and entered into the database.
Required Skills or Experience
- Minimum of Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in Agricultural Science or related field.
- Minimum of three years relevant work experience in a similar role, preferably in a fruit processing environment.
- Excellence, Integrity, Accountability
- Ability to work independently and with less supervision
- Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.
