At the moment, Zipline is delivering 30% of all the blood being transported outside of Kigali, Rwanda.
We are expanding rapidly throughout the world and looking for amazing individuals who are passionate about the nexus of public health and cutting-edge technology to change the world. Zipline is currently a team of 99 rockstars, with an R&D branch in California, USA and a distribution center for drone deliveries in Muhanga, Rwanda.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a battery technician you will be building advanced, cutting edge lithium-ion battery packs in Zipline’s first Distribution Center in Ghana. You will be playing a crucial support role for our flight operations by supplying Zipline’s drones with the power needed to perform medical deliveries and save lives.
1 MONTH You will receive elite Zip training that includes professional courses as well apprenticeship with the Battery Build Lead to learn on the job.
3 MONTHS You will be a certified battery builder for autonomous aircraft. You will master all the skills required to build cutting edge batteries such as electrical assembly & maintenance, electrical system analysis and troubleshooting, soldering, spot welding, quality control and testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Collaboration: Work efficiently as a team and maintain a professional environment at all times

- Battery Work: Build and assemble high-quality battery packs for use in Zipline autonomous aircraft vehicles

- Training: Assist in training new members of the team to maintain a high standard of quality and workmanship

- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Collaborate with the local and US-based engineering team to perform maintenance, repair & troubleshooting of Zipline aircraft batteries.
QUALIFICATIONS
-

- Degree or Diploma in electrical, electronic, aerospace, mechanical or systems engineering OR
- 3+ years working as an electrical assembly technician for batteries, electrical/power
- Experience with soldering and wiring
- Ability to adapt to new technology
- Experienced using tools such as lead molds, drill machines, and other battery servicing equipment and tools;
LANGUAGES
-
- Full Professional Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Proficiency of other local dialects preferred
REQUIREMENTS

- Able to legally work in Ghana
- Hands-On Attitude: Must enjoy hands-on work and be adept at working with mechanical or electrical systems
- Maintain a cool head under high pressure situations
- Extremely process & detail-oriented
- Ability to maintain focus during extended daily operations
- Comfortable troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues with complex, battery-operated machinery.
