Job Description
Job Title: Senior Project Officer – Maternal and Child Health (2 vacancies)
Department: Programming (Health)
Grade/Level: Eight (8)
Reports To: Project Manager
Country/Location: One SPO will be based in Tamale and the other, in Ho

Job Summary
As a member of the maternal and child health Project team, you will help provide technical leadership to the field implementation team and partners to ensure accomplishment of the MCH Project objectives and results, while meeting expected technical quality standards. You will work with the project partners (Ghana Health Service) in the implementation of project strategies and activities. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and achieve impact.
Job Responsibilities
- Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and best practices.
- Ensure learning properly accompanies project activities throughout the project cycle. Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and guiding partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences. Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and/or gaps to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
- Coordinate and oversee working relationships with all local project stakeholders and serve as the liaison between partners and the project team to mobilize local actors and promote project activities and impact.
- Supervise and perform ad-hoc inspections of various processes and resources at project sites to ensure timely project activities implementation and adherence to established process standards and procedures. Ensure proper tracking of resource use for project activities through periodic budget reviews and follow-up with and assistance to implementing partner.
- Support and coordinate capacity building and technical support activities to ensure assigned project activities are implemented per project guidelines and standards.
- Coordinate provision of any logistical and administrative support to staff and partners.
- Ensure project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices
Scope: Coordinate with Government and other Research Partners at the District and Sub-District levels
Required Skills or Experience
Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree, Public Health, Nutrition or in any related field with extensive experience in community mobilization and sensitization strategies
- At least four years of experience in community mobilization or similar capacity
- Verifiable experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred including familiarity with qualitative approaches to M&E.
- Verifiable experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and building capacity of teams.
- Computer literate and skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of local languages in the Northern and Volta Regions (i.e. Ewe, Dagbani, Mampruli) would be a plus

- Demonstrated professional maturity, relationship management and good interpersonal skills for teamwork.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Observation, active listening and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment.
