Purpose of Job

To assist site management by ensuring that the staff and bench crew deliver products and work effectively and efficiently in a safe manner always to ensure the continuous acceptance by the Customer to maximize profit.

Functional Outputs

  • To oversee the day-to-day operations at the site, ensuring smooth workflow, timely completion of task and efficient resource allocation.
  • To ensure product is  always delivered on time and in full per customer demand.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Monitor and report on progress, identifying issues or obstacles that may arise during operations and implementing appropriate solutions. To immediately report issues beyond control  to management for redress.
  • To ensure count variances are eliminated by accurate counts, update of SAP and efficient site stock management.
  • To ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to prevent accidents and minimize risks.
  • To provide guidance, training and support to team to ensure optimal performance, productivity and adherence to operational and safety procedures.
  • To regularly facilitate internal safety audit to improve and create safety awareness and right attitude of team.
  • Implement and enforce all company policies, procedures and guidelines related to work performance and safety.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to date records, including daily reports, safety documentation and maintenance records.
  • Promote a positive and professional work environment which fosters teamwork and always ensure effective maintenance of superior customer and stakeholder relationship.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
  • To grow a quality culture throughout the workforce by meeting customer and company requirements.
  • To ensure discipline is strictly enforced at all times.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications and expertise required

  • A minimum of Bachelor's Degree  preferably in Mining Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in an explosives or mining industry.
  • Statutory qualification/ holder of Blasting Certificate of Competency from MinCom.
  • Good working knowledge of current Explosives and Mining Legislations and Regulations. 
  • In-depth working knowledge of the open pit mining and underground operations and methods.
  • In-depth working knowledge of blast performance assessment techniques and associated equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in broad range of commercial explosives application.

Job specification

  • The ability to interact with customers at all operational and management level.
  • Must have committed attitude to onsite Health and Safety standards.
