The Area Maintenance & Repair Coordinator oversees container maintenance and repair operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective repairs that meet Hapag-Lloyd standards. This role involves assessing and approving repair estimates, coordinating reefer unit monitoring and call-outs, and managing claims for container damages. Additionally, the coordinator ensures M&R facilities and contractors operate efficiently to reduce costs while maintaining high service levels. The focus is on providing safe, commercially viable equipment throughout the transport chain.
Responsibilities & Tasks
MnR approvals
- Coordinate on all M&R estimates, supervision of repairs for WAF-Area
- Ensure repair tariff maintenance in MARS
- Perform MARS repair approvals for estimates on a daily basis
- Monitor timely repair / data quality of estimates updated in MARS, including usage of correct repair and spare part codes.
- Monitor estimates and actual repairs and ensure customer specifications are followed Maintain M&R cost statistics / management reports Monitor repair yard performance and turn-around times. Coordinate call outs
- Assist CS/Sales teams to understand specific requirements of customers and implement appropriate measures / actions to fulfill the same.

Vendor Management
- Develop and maintain appropriate working relationship with the vendors
- Perform periodical analysis and manage M&R costs
- Review man-hour utilization per parts
- Evaluate vendors as per Hapag-Lloyd's standards.
- Assist regional M&R to evaluate vendor performance o Assist regional M&R to conduct audit of repair facilities
- Ensure preparation of special equipment, if and when required
Equipment Management
- Determine 3rd party-responsibility for damage and contaminations, refer to the Area concerned and initiate regress actions, including total loss
- Initiate recovery actions for equipment loss or I damage from liable parties
Hapag-Lloyd Live Reefer monitoring
- Ensuring a 24hrs reefer container monitoring in the area
- Liaising with PTO, Customer Service and reefer suppliers/technicians to attend to alert / reported reefer malfunctioning
Reefer Spare Parts
- Coordinating with Hapag-Lloyd reefer spare parts team and our suppliers to arrange suppliers/reefer container spares to vessels plying the waters in the area.
Qualifications and Technical Job Requirements
- Good knowledge of Port Operations and general logistics required Knowledge of shipping terminology and practices.
- Good understanding of Port, transport, equipment, M&R functions
- Understanding Vendor management and development
- Business Systems / lT
- Knowledge of FIS I and Il, MARS and other applications
- Knowledge of user application systems (MS Office, Word, Excel)
- Skilled in the maintenance of equipment
- Knowledge of refrigeration
- Knowledge of equipment
- Good Communication skills & command over written & spoken English.
- Customer focus
- Good analytical skills and ability to work under pressure Quick decision-making
- Leadership capabilities in respect to cost management
- Willingness to attend to emergencies outside of usual working hours
- Knowledge of interaction with other functions i.e. CSB/CSI/PTO Business / financial focus
