SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES GHANA is a child welfare organization that provides a stable Family-Like Care (FLC) for children in need. We also provide social services for families at risk through our Family Strengthening Projects. Currently, we operate in four locations; Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, Tamale, with the National Office in Accra.

Postion Overview

The Project Coordinator will under the leadership of the National Programmes Development Manager, provide leadership in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the NORAD Project across 5 districts in 4 regions of Ghana in line with the Vision, Mission, Values, brand, approved strategies policies and guidelines of the organization and national legislation. The role is essential in ensuring the successful delivery, monitoring, and alignment of the programme with national policies, while collaborating closely with local NGO partners and other SOS staff.

The coordinator will ensure that programme activities are informed by data-driven insights, enabling effective decision-making and continuous improvement. This position is critical for managing programme resources, ensuring optimal performance, and guaranteeing that the programme's objectives are achieved efficiently and in alignment with both local and national priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership and Coordination:

  • Oversee and ensure the timely, effective implementation of the child protection programme across five districts: Sene West, Adaklu, Ada East, Ada West, and Ekumfi.
  • Coordinate the programme’s activities in alignment with national policies, child protection strategies, and local needs, ensuring that the programme addresses the causes of parent-child separation, including child labour, poverty, and inadequate caregiving.

Stakeholder and Partnership Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key national and local stakeholders, including the Department of Social Welfare, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ghana Police Service, and other relevant government bodies.
  • Collaborate with local NGO partners, civil society organizations (CSOs), and community-based child protection committees (CBCPs) to ensure effective local-level implementation and ownership of the programme.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Ensure that all programme data is collected, analyzed, and reported accurately, providing evidence of impact to donors, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Supervise the M&E Officer to ensure comprehensive monitoring and evaluation systems are in place to assess programme activities, outputs, and outcomes.

Capacity Building and Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support and capacity-building for local NGO partners, community-based child protection committees (CBCPs), and other relevant local stakeholders on child protection, family reintegration, and M&E best practices.
  • Work with the National Advocacy Advisor to design and deliver training on advocacy, child protection systems, and policy integration.

Financial Management and Budgeting:

  • Supervise the Finance Officer to ensure that financial resources are effectively managed, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and financial accountability.
  • Monitor budget expenditures, ensuring that funds are spent according to plan and in alignment with programme goals.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate should:

  • Hold a first degree in Project management, Sociology, Economics or Community Development  or related fields
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Community and Child Development, Project management, Monitoring and Evaluation within a development context.
  • Have good communication and report writing skills and be fluent in any of the local languages of the project communities.
  • Possess a positive and professional approach. 
  • Be highly organized, have leadership ability, strong supervisory and time management skills with precision to meet deadlines. 
  • Possess strong coordination and team management ability. 
  • Have computer skills in Microsoft suite.
  • Be a motivated self-starter with initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm
  • Be a strategic thinker, combined with a practical “ can do’’ attitude
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze issues within local and global contexts
  • Possess an understanding of Results Based Management and demonstrate ability to write results-based progress reports
  • Be knowledgeable in Child Rights and Child Safe Protection Practices
