The National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) is seeking highly skilled, experienced and visionary professional to serve as its General Secretary (Chief Executive Officer). The ideal candidate should be innovative, proactive and an effective communicator with a strong understanding of local governance and decentralization in Ghana.
Duties and Responsibilities
The General Secretary will:
- Lead the National Secretariat and oversee the implementation of NALAG’s programmes and activities under the guidance of the President
- Manage the day-to-day administration and operations of the Association
- Implement resolution and decisions of the National Delegates Conference (NALAG’s highest decision-making body) nd the National Executive Council (policy-formulating body)
- Develop ad strengthen strategic partnerships and alliances with key stakeholders
- Ensure the efficient management and utilization of the Association’s resources
- Oversee the financial management and accountability of the association
- Represent the Association in the media, policy dialogues and public engagements to promote local governance and decentralization
- Perform any other duties assigned by the National Executive Council

Qualification Required & Experience
- Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
- Possess a postgraduate degree or diploma in Public Administration, Social Sciences or a related discipline (preferred)
- Have a minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in a leadership role
- Demonstrate strong conceptual, strategic thinking and human relation skills.
- Exhibit confidence, prudence and competence in managing and directing the secretariat
- Be knowledgeable and experienced in decentralised and local government issues in Ghana
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Have experience working with donor agencies and NGOs.
- Be computer-literate with proficiency in internet use and office software
