UMA is seeking to employ qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position. These are Obuasi-based Fixed Term positions with a competitive work roster at its operations in Obuasi. The remuneration package includes an attractive salary and performance-based incentive payments for the right candidates.
The positions will provide you with an excellent opportunity to further develop your career in underground mechanised mining while working alongside experienced industry professionals in a safe, dynamic and outcome-focused environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervising underground mining activities to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Enforcing all underground safety regulations and procedures.
- Conducting pre-shift safety briefings and toolbox talks.
- Communicating with mine managers, engineers and other departments regarding progress and challenges.
- Providing detailed shift handover reports to the supervisor.
- Assigning tasks to miners, operators, and other workers based on shift plans.
- Monitoring drilling, blasting, haulage, and ground support activities.
- Ensuring proper ore extraction and waste handling according to mine plans.
- Coordinating with engineers and geologists to optimize production.
- Leading and motivating the underground workforce to maintain high performance.
- Managing workforce scheduling, attendance, and performing evaluations.
- Managing materials, explosives, and other resources needed for underground operations.
- Complete various daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a safe work environment.
- Be open to learning new methods and be willing to share your skills and knowledge with co-workers
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the shop and at job sites
- Ensure safety by adhering to all mining safety protocols and using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines to prevent accidents.

Required Skills or Experience
- Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving and operating licenses (C & E Classes) and able to drive man-ual SUV underground.
- Must possess Minerals Commission (MINCOM) Certification.
- Ability to influence and engage with operational and non-operational employees and contractors with strong demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly as well as train, coach, and mentor crew members.
- Strong sense of urgency and outcomes focused
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
- Ability to work both day and night.
