REPORTING TO: Director, Academic Quality Assurance Directorate (AQAD)
JOB ROLE
The Academic Quality Assurance Directorate (AQAD) oversees academic quality in all academic units of the University and its affiliates. The mission of AQAD is to deploy effective quality assurance policies and practices, creating an enabling environment that makes the University of Ghana (UG) increasingly relevant to national and global development through cutting-edge research and high-quality teaching and learning.

The Quality Assurance Officer position requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in a dynamic, fast-paced academic environment, and the ability to multi-task. Successful applicants should be creative thinkers with outstanding IT and research skills who can effectively perform under pressure while ensuring a high level of accuracy, professionalism and confidentiality.
The quality assurance officer is expected to conceptualize, implement, monitor, and evaluate activity on quality assurance and disseminate the results to stakeholders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Quality Assurance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that academic programmes, administrative processes, and institutional practices meet established standards of quality and align with accreditation, regulatory, and organizational requirements. The role includes fostering continuous improvement across the University’s operations to enhance student outcomes and institutional reputation. The Quality Assurance Officer shall:
- Assist the Director to implement the strategic plan of the AQAD;
- Ensure compliance with local and international accreditation standards;
- Conduct regular audits, evaluation and assessments of academic programs, faculty performance, and administrative processes;
- Monitor key performance indicators to measure institutional effectiveness and quality standards;
- Conceptualize and undertake monitoring and evaluation activities on quality assurance;
- Collect and analyse data related to academic and administrative performance.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrative units to embed a culture of quality across the University;
- Provide guidance and training on quality assurance processes and standards;
- Identify areas for improvement in academic delivery and institutional practices and recommend actionable solutions;
- Support curriculum development and review processes to ensure alignment with quality benchmarks;
- Facilitate feedback mechanisms to assess satisfaction and drive enhancements.
- Ensure that sensitive data and information are handled with the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism;
QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must have:
- A good first degree plus an advanced degree (Masters) in a relevant field such as Educational Monitoring and Evaluation, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics or Computer Science from a recognized institution; and,
- Have at least two years of relevant post-second-degree qualification experience.

Required knowledge, ability and skills:
- Knowledge of the University, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices and issues on higher education quality monitoring
- Knowledge of all aspects of data collection and analysis
- Exceptional organisation and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and to adapt to changing priorities
- Knowledge and understanding of internal and external accreditation processes
- Skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive short and longterm quality assurance plans.
- Demonstrated excellent writing and presentation skills
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
