Bunge is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Technician to join our diverse team in Tema, Ghana.
In this position, you will become responsible for maintaining and repairing all plant equipment and buildings to ensure the efficient, and safe operation of the production facility. The Mechanical Technician plays a crucial role in minimizing downtime and optimizing plant performance. This role requires working on a rotating shift schedule.
Main Accountabilities:
- Planned Maintenance: Perform planned preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment and buildings according to established schedules and procedures. This includes regular inspections, lubrication, component replacement, and system testing.
- Emergency Maintenance: Respond effectively to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, diagnosing problems, implementing repairs, and restoring functionality as quickly as possible to minimize production disruption.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Identify, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems on plant facilities, applying diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and problem-solving skills.
- Inspections and Leak Detection: Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment to assess general condition and identify lubricant, product, air, steam, and other leakages. Report findings and initiate corrective actions.
- CMMS Documentation: Accurately and consistently document all maintenance activities performed during the shift in the Computerized Maintenance Management System

Knowledge and Skills:
Behavior: You are a proactive, responsible teammate who takes ownership of maintenance, communicates well, and prioritizes safety. You are also adaptable to shift work.
Technical: You possess a strong mechanical competence, including expertise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems and rotating equipment repair. You can interpret technical documentation and use various tools and CMMS software.
Education & Experience:
- HND Mechanical Engineering (Plant Option) or Mechanical Engineering Part 3 (Plant option) or a related qualification with a strong mechanical engineering background relevant to plant operations.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance role is preferred. Experience in the oil and fat industry or a similar manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
Work Schedule:
This position operates on a rotating 3-shift schedule:
- Morning Shift: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
- Afternoon Shift: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
- Night Shift: 10:00 pm - 6:00 am
