POSITION SUMMARY
The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist (M&E Specialist) will be responsible for collecting teaching quality and student assessment data from 200+ schools around the Ashanti, Greater Accra, Volta, Eastern, Oti, and Western regions of Ghana.
This will involve interviews with school proprietors and teachers, classroom observations, and student-level literacy assessments using the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) assessment tool. This data allows us to analyze the quality of schools and provide targeted training to aid an improvement in conditions for learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES
School Quality Data Collection:
- Conduct yearly surveys with school proprietors to gather relevant data on school quality and assess improved school leadership schools.
- Conduct yearly classroom observation (COB) activities to assess the quality of classroom instruction, teaching concepts, and methods applied in the classroom.
- Conduct student-level literacy assessments using the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) assessment tool with primary-level students (previous experience conducting ASER assessments in Ghana strongly preferred)
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of the data collected in a timely manner.
- Occasionally support other data collection and documentation needs as requested by the implementation team
- Collaborate with the MEL Associate to identify trends, patterns, and areas requiring improvement in learning outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with school proprietors, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to facilitate data collection and promote engagement in improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with partner organizations and government agencies involved in low-cost private schools Activity.
- Participate in meetings and conferences to represent the organization and share insights and lessons learned at the district level.
Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or a related field
- Previous experience collecting data through digital surveys and observation.
- Highly competent users of tablets, laptop computers, and other technology
- ·Willingness and ability to travel to collect data. This will involve organizing public transportation and accommodations.
- Experience in the education sector (including prior experience conducting ASER learning assessments) is strongly desirable, but not required.
- Strong desire to learn and improve technical and analytical skills.
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from management to accomplish objectives.
- Creative problem solver that leverages critical thinking ability into unique solutions to complex problems and communicates those solutions.
- Clear commitment to the values of the organization—commitment, humility, respect, integrity, stewardship, and transformation

- Written and verbal fluency in English, additional 1 local language required at minimum. Must be able to attend & fully participate in meetings conducted in English.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS (please provide a %)
- Up to 80% of domestic travel is required annually.
- Must be able to travel with minimal notice and maximum flexibility.
- Must be willing to travel independently.
