The Mechanical Engineer (IT Datacenter Infrastructure Engineer) is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the physical and virtual IT infrastructure of Fairgreen Limited and its clients. This role ensures that servers, storage, network devices, and other data center components are operating optimally to support the delivery of IT services.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Design and Deployment
- Design and implement physical and virtual IT infrastructure solutions based on client requirements.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and network devices in data centers.
- Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansions.

Maintenance and Monitoring
- Monitor the health and performance of servers, storage, and data center infrastructure.
- Conduct regular maintenance activities, including patching, firmware updates, and hardware replacement.
- Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues to ensure high availability and performance.
Network and Connectivity
- Support the configuration and maintenance of networking components (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls).
- Ensure connectivity between systems, devices, and networks in the data center.
- Troubleshoot network-related issues and escalate when necessary.
Data Center Operations
- Ensure optimal operation of power, cooling, and cabling in the data center.
- Maintain physical security of the data center, ensuring adherence to access control policies.
- Document layouts, asset inventories, and operational procedures.
Backup and Recovery
- Implement and maintain data backup solutions for critical systems.
- Support disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure business continuity.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure data integrity and availability.
Collaboration and Support
- Work closely with other team members, including network engineers, virtualization specialists, and application deployment specialists.
- Provide input on capacity planning and infrastructure scaling to meet future requirements.
- Assist with troubleshooting complex issues that involve multiple infrastructure components.
Compliance and Security
- Ensure adherence to relevant standards and frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, ITIL).
- Implement security measures to protect infrastructure from unauthorized access and threats.
- Maintain documentation for audit and compliance purposes.

Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and storage systems (SAN, NAS, DAS).
- Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix .
- Familiarity with networking concepts (e.g., VLANs, firewalls, routing, switching).
Problem-Solving
- Analytical skills to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software failures efficiently.

- Veeam (VCP)
- ITIL Foundation (preferred).
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, preferably in data center environments.
