Job Summary
The Head of Finance is responsible for the effective set-up, maintenance, control, planning and production of financial and management records and information relevant to the management and achievement of objectives of the bank and adherence to accounting policies and procedures. In addition, the Head of finance is also responsible for the creation and implementation of the finance strategy, for the establishment and implementation of financial procedures and systems controls and for the management of financial reporting to aid decision making.
- Ensure compliance with the provisions of the Banking Law, the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), as well as directives and procedures established by Bank of Ghana, ARB Apex Bank and the policies of the bank.
- Advise on and implement a reliable accounting system and corporate financial policies that provide adequate reporting of the Bank’s financial position at all times.
- Initiate, co-ordinate and consolidate the bank's budgets and targets
- Ensure effective monthly and periodic production of financial and management accounts and reports for internal, statutory and regulatory requirements in a quality and timely way.
- Primary responsibility for implementing and maintaining internal financial controls assuring the completeness and accuracy of information contained in the Bank’s financial systems.
- Advise on the financial and risk implications of resource allocation and other decisions and review the financial evaluation of proposed projects.
- Develop Accounting/Financial Policies, Operating Standards and Procedures and other support systems including monitoring mechanisms in managing the Financial and Management Accounting functions.
- Manage and control the monthly management reporting process including explanation of variances and trends to management and Board in a timely manner.
- Manage/supervise the preparation and submission of the bank’s statutory reports and returns to Apex Bank, BOG, GRA, External Auditors and SSNIT.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the bank’s General Ledger and the management of bank’s Fixed Assets.
- Manage the treasury functions of the Bank.
- Ensure compliance with Bank of Ghana regulations and guidelines.

Required Skills or Experience
Qualification, Competencies and Experience
- University degree in Accounting /Banking Finance
- Professional Accounting Qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICA etc.)
- Master’s Degree in related Field (Added Advantage)
- At least five years working experience in similar role
- Highly analytical, critical, and pays attention to details
- Proactive, innovative and dynamic problem-solver
- Professional, with high personal integrity
- Good interpersonal, communication and report writing competencies
- Must have worked at a Similar role for not less than 5 years
- Must have knowledge in T24 banking software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
