Job Summary:
The Physician Assistant (PA) works under the supervision of a licensed physician, providing a wide range of medical services to patients. The PA's role includes examining patients, ordering diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and educating patients on disease prevention and management. They work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- • Patient Assessment: Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and assess patients' health status.
- • Diagnosis and Treatment: Order and interpret diagnostic tests, develop and implement treatment plans, and prescribe medications within the scope of their license and the supervising physician's protocols.
- • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, treatment plans, medication management, and preventative care.
- • Procedures: Perform minor procedures, such as wound care, injections, and suturing, under physician supervision.
- • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts.
- • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as part of an integrated team.
- • Follow-up: Monitor patients' progress, modify treatment plans as necessary, and arrange for follow-up appointments.
- • Emergency Care: Provide basic life support and initial care in emergency situations.
- • Referrals: Make referrals to specialists when necessary.
- • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date on medical knowledge and clinical skills through continuing medical education.
- • Compliance: Adhere to all relevant medical protocols, ethical guidelines, and legal regulations.
