Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, with a passion for building scalable and efficient systems. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend infrastructure that powers our innovative products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Development: Architect, design, and develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable backend services and APIs.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of backend functionalities with the overall product.
- Performance Optimisation: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring our systems are optimised for speed and scalability.
- Security: Implement robust security practices to protect our systems and data.
- Code Review: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for backend systems and processes.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions.
Technical skills
- Proficiency in backend languages such as Java, Python, FastApi, and Golang.
- Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar.
- Strong understanding of GraphQL and RESTful API design and development.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Knowledge of GitHub automation workflows, and testing pipelines. CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
- Experience with shipping production-ready products to paying customers.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies and frameworks is a plus.
Soft skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an onsite team environment.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for technology and innovation.
