Kintampo Health Research Centre (KHRC) is a well-established, African-based, research centre and one of three field research centres of the Research and Development Division of the Ghana Health Service. The work of KHRC has influences on health policy and practice throughout Ghana, Africa and the rest of the world. KHRC also offers research and training services nationally and internationally and its staffs are multidisciplinary. KHRC is located in the middle belt of Ghana.

Job Description

Qualified applicants are invited to apply to work as a transport and logistics officer on a research project at Kintampo Health Research Centre, Kintampo North Municipality, Bono-East Region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the Coordination of all department/unit/project heads/research fellows and officers to determine transport requirements and schedule transport to meet them.
  • Assist with assessments of local transportation resources and infrastructure.  
  • Coordinate the movement of vehicles and other transportation assets
  • Ensure the appropriate use, maintenance and repair of all light vehicles, motorcycles and generators
  • Keep documents current such as registration, insurance, vehicle logs, daily inspection reports, etc.
  • Ensure sufficient supply of fuel and oil.
  • Manage fuel requests, fuel stocks and spare parts inventories;
  • Produce monthly fuel and vehicle use reports, “work orders,” etc.  
  • Assist in the supervision of drivers.  
  • Making sure vehicles are properly maintained 
  • Arranging repairs and routine maintenance 
  • Ensuring that all drivers have the correct, up-to-date qualifications 
  • Perform other assigned by KHRC. 

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications

  • A member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)
  • 1st Degree in Logistics and Transport Management with 5 years of relevant working experience.

Experience

  • 5 years relevant working experience managing a transport department
  • Knowledge of transport methods.
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Complex problem-solving skills
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Significant experience in fleet management.
  • Understanding of policies and procedures governing the management of motorized assets and the contracting of transportation services.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • must be able to “multi-task”
  • Experience managing inventories 
  • Computer experience:  Windows systems, MS Word and MS Excel; 
  • Excellent sense of judgment
