We, Merlot Culinary are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate should have a strong culinary background, a creative flair, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Responsibilities
Menu Planning and Development:
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative and seasonal menus.
- Ensure menu items are consistent with the restaurant's concept and target audience.
- Assist train students at the culinary training center where required.
Kitchen Operations:
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including scheduling, staffing, and inventory management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Train and develop kitchen staff to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Monitor food quality and presentation.

Food Preparation:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, from appetizers to desserts.
- Ensure that all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations.
Staff Management:
- Train kitchen staff.
- Ensure staff responsible for stock taking and inventory are up to date on shortages
- Provide leadership and guidance to the kitchen team.
- Motivate and inspire the team to achieve excellence.
Customer Service:
- Interact with customers to ensure their satisfaction.
- Address any customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
Qualifications:
- BSc Nutrition, BSc Hospitality Management, or Formal Education in Culinary Arts.
- Proven experience as a Chef or Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant.
- Experience in preparing local & continental dishes
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for food.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Food safety certification.
- Ability to work for long hours.
