Position Summary:
To develop and ensure the systematic application of security and safety management policies and procedures in all operational areas of the Company. This will include the ongoing assessment of threats and provision of advice and mitigating measures to manage risk; the maintenance and updating of security guidelines and ensuring that security working practices are robust to prevent theft, vandalism, and any other form of crime.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Ensure that all activities and locations are assessed and monitored relative to their impact on security and safety and recommend specific protocols and practices to eliminate/reduce risk and vulnerability.
- Continuously monitor the security/safety environment (national and local) and make recommendations to Management to adjust security policies and procedures as needed.

- Ensure that contingency plans for Evacuation, Relocation and Medical Evacuation are in place, disseminated and adopted amongst relevant staff.
- Ensure and regularly reassess that vehicles, premises and equipment are compliant with security and safety standards.
- Research and analyse security-related information from a variety of local and international media sources, district offices, in order to produce a formal weekly security update.
- Monitor working practices across departments within the context of security and alert Management if inappropriate actions/decisions are impacting on the security and safety of the organization or external perception of the organization.
- Ensure that incident report forms are properly compiled by staff and are sent for appropriate remedial actions.
- Proactively monitor camera feeds from different locations in order to detect security breaches or potential crimes.
- In conjunction with the IT team, supervise the installation of security equipment such as surveillance cameras and alarms.
- Develops and institutes security policies and procedures.
- Coordinate post-incident follow up actions, analysis and recommendations.
- Ensure systems are in place to instantly respond to a crisis management situation.
- Ensure that a centralized filing system of security-related documents is maintained.
- Conduct ongoing threat assessments and compile reports on security assessments of offices (head office and outstation), directors’ residences and field sites. Build capacity of personnel from security company to conduct such threat assessment.
- Build the capacity of personnel in terms of personal safety and security. Develop a programme of induction and training for current and new staff.
- Develop a standardized security training method and provide security training for all staff in security-related subjects ensuring that policy and guidelines are understood and are being adopted and implemented across the Company.
- Coordinate and liaise on security matters with all relevant actors including 3rd party security companies.
- Serve as a key resource in times of emergencies, such as natural or manmade disasters.
- Organizes and maintains security of the Company’s premises including physical access for people and vehicles.
- Manages all security staff (in-house and contractors).
- Maintains strong internal control systems to prevent the breakdown of law and order within the organization.
Minimum Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminology, Information Technology or a related field
Minimum Relevant work experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years in a similar role
