The Khana Group (TKG) is a leading social impact research and consulting firm with offices in West Africa and our headquarters in the United States. Our primary focus lies in West Africa, and the firm’s mission is to transform lives and create sustainable solutions across Africa by using data and cultural/local context to inform programmatic and policy decisions and develop strategies to increase social impact for clients and partners.
TKG works with non-profit and government clients across Africa, American and European commercial clients, INGOs, and international donor organizations. We have experience supporting development interventions on over 300 projects, in over 20 African countries.
Job Description
TKG developed FieldWorkz, an on-demand survey platform that crowdsources critical data through a network of trained and experienced data collectors and is seeking an intern who is enthusiastic about ICT and has some experience with technologies such as AI, Data Analytics & Visualization, Machine Learning, and IoT. The intern will have some experience with tools such as ODK, SurveyCTO, SurveyToGo, Survey Solutions, Magpi, etc., and understand scripting. We are looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience in ICT and Research.

Responsibilities and Tasks
- Support the management and operationalization of surveys and research in the field.
- Support the design and develop compelling data visualization (maps, charts, and graphs) and dashboards using data sets from various sources.
- Support the collection and analysis of data with rigour and integrity and curate insights that are concise and appropriately accessible to other audiences.
- Support quantitative data analysis and visualization.
- Collaborate with global research teams during quantitative project execution to ensure quality of results and communication delivered to clients.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders, in-person and/or remotely.
- Maintain the highest level of data security and client confidentiality.
Required Skills or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistical studies, demography and any other field-related data management and at least 3 years of experience in the field of database management and 3 years of experience working in the field of monitoring and evaluation and research
- Experience with tools such as ODK, SurveyCTO, SurveyToGo, Survey Solutions, etc.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one programming language relevant for numerical analysis (Strong preference for Python, R, SPSS, Stata, etc.).
- ICT skills: MS Excel, Access, SQL, and Android tablets or phones
- Good mapping and cartography skills
- Experience in quantitative and/or qualitative data collection methodologies, and related software packages
- Some proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, Python, R, etc.).
