Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Transport of Staff and Visitors:
- Drive internal staff, external partners, and World Vision visitors to and from field locations, ensuring safety, professionalism, and punctuality.
- Provide transportation support for field-related activities across departments, ensuring timely delivery of personnel and materials.
- Ensure adherence to road safety regulations and World Vision's protocols, ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers.
Fleet and Equipment Maintenance:
- Oversee the routine maintenance, servicing, and repair of vehicles, drilling equipment, and other machinery in the GI-WASH fleet to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime and extend operational life.
- Coordinate with the GI-WASH Maintenance Supervisor to procure spare parts, tools, and consumables necessary for fleet and equipment maintenance.

Hands-on Mechanical Support:
- Provide hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and repair of vehicles and equipment in the field or workshop as required.
- Assist with complex mechanical repairs, ensuring that all issues are resolved efficiently to minimize disruptions to field operations.
- Collaborate with technicians to ensure repairs are completed safely and according to best practices.
Transport and Logistics Coordination:
- Plan and manage the transport schedule for internal staff, external partners, and materials, ensuring optimal use of vehicles and fleet resources.
- Support field teams in transporting drilling equipment and other project materials, ensuring that transport is aligned with project needs and timelines.
- Work with other departments to coordinate logistical support for field operations, ensuring smooth execution of transport logistics.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all vehicles and equipment comply with safety regulations and World Vision’s safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance, safety gear, and operational readiness.
- Implement safety practices for fleet management, including daily vehicle checks and proper use of protective gear during fieldwork.
Fleet and Equipment Monitoring:
- Track fleet and equipment usage, maintaining accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
- Analyze fleet performance data to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and make decisions regarding necessary repairs or replacements.
- Provide reports on fleet performance to the GI-WASH Maintenance Supervisor, offering recommendations for improvements.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Monitor the budget for fleet maintenance and repairs, ensuring cost-effective management of resources while maintaining high standards of performance.
- Prepare reports on fleet costs, fuel consumption, and maintenance needs, identifying areas for potential cost savings.
- Work with management to forecast future resource needs for vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Emergency Response:
- Provide immediate support for emergency transport needs, including urgent repairs, medical evacuations, and equipment breakdowns.
- Ensure rapid deployment of vehicles and equipment during emergencies to minimize disruption to field activities and ensure safety.
Spiritual Leadership:
- Uphold World Vision’s Christian values in daily work, serving as a role model for colleagues and stakeholders.
- Participate in and encourage daily devotions, fostering a spiritually supportive and collaborative team environment.

- Assist in Hydrogeological Investigation for borehole site selection

Required Skills or Experience
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet supervision and driving, vehicle maintenance, or mechanical repair, with a proven ability to handle both light and heavy vehicles.
Education, Training, License, Registration and Certification
- Diploma or equivalent in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Certification in fleet or vehicle maintenance management is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license (preferably for both light and heavy vehicles, including 4x4 and trucks).
- Certification in automotive or mechanical maintenance is highly desirable.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and repair, including experience with specialized equipment such as drilling rigs.
- Hands-on experience with fleet management, maintaining multiple vehicles and equipment in field conditions.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance software for tracking performance and scheduling repairs.
- Advanced knowledge of vehicle mechanics and repair techniques, with the ability to provide hands-on support.
- Ability to manage transport logistics, maintenance schedules, and repair activities effectively.
- Capable of quickly diagnosing mechanical issues and providing solutions to ensure operational continuity.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices in vehicle and equipment operation.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
- Office based with frequent travel to the field
- Travel: 20% Domestic/international travel is required.
- On call: 25%
