Job Description

  • REPORT TO: RESEARCH, MONITORING & EVALUATION MANAGER
  • LOCATION: HEAD OFFICE (ACCRA)
  • CONTRACT TERM: FROM NOW TILL DECEMBER 31, 2026

JOB PURPOSE

The data analyst will support the project's timely and effective monitoring activities. S/he will manage the project master data set, and analyze data for project reporting as requested by the project lead and required for donor reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data Cleaning and Preparation: This involves filtering the data, handling missing values, and preparing the dataset for analysis to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Data Exploration and Analysis: Analysts use statistical tools and techniques to explore and analyze data, identifying patterns, relationships, and trends.

  • Data Visualization: create visual representations of data findings through charts, graphs, and dashboards to make the data understandable.
  • Reporting: Data analysts prepare reports and presentations to communicate the insights and findings from the data to stakeholders, which can influence policy and decision-making processes.
  • Collaboration: work with other departments to understand their data needs and help them make informed decisions based on data insights.
  • Manage project database - ensure that data is accurate, consistent, and reliable throughout its lifecycle, which is critical for making valid and trustworthy decisions
  • Aggregate, clean, process and analyze data captured in the field (all project implementing sites) in a timely way to provide inputs for project performance indicators and project information needs.
  • Build and maintain database structure according to best practices including maintaining databases and data systems by addressing errors and monitoring performance and providing input on the design of forms, surveys, and indices to minimize data errors and improve data processing
  • Run regular reports checking for data quality and communicate findings to the supervisor.
  • Train and provide technical assistance to field staff on data collection.
  • Perform data quality assessments, data cleaning and preliminary data analysis. Share and discuss findings to help identify insights to inform project implementation strategy.
  • Support in the development and execution of qualitative and quantitative methods in organization-led research
  • Analyzing collected data and putting it into a format that others can easily interpret
  • Create and maintain processes to generate accurate and timely reports that help the organization and stakeholders to understand and act on key data insights
  • Engage with managers from various departments to specify data requirements for analysis projects tailored to their unique processes
  • Detect, examine, and decode trends or patterns within intricate datasets
  • Develop data dashboards, charts, and visual aids to support decision-making across departments

Required Skills or Experience

  • A first degree in mathematics, computer science, economics, or statistics with a minimum of four (4) years post-qualification experience. A professional qualification certificate will be an added advantage.
  • Practical experience with statistical software (such as Excel, SPSS, SAS) and mastery in data analysis languages including SQL, Python, and R.
  • Expertise in quantitative methods and database management
  • Written and oral communication skills; ability to engage and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Ability to present data in simple graphs and tables.
  • Time management skills; ability to work well independently
  • Capable of critically evaluating data to derive meaningful, actionable insights.
  • Demonstrate superior communication and presentation capabilities, adept at simplifying complex data insights for audiences without a technical background.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • A deep understanding of the industry (NGO space, especially in the area of Health)
