Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill a vacancy for Deputy Director of Transport in the Parliamentary Service of Ghana.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Deputy Director of Transport shall provide support for the Clerk and management of the service through the Director of Transport, logistics and stores by performing the following duties:
- Assist in developing and implementing transport strategies, policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of persons, goods and materials
- Plan and coordinate transport operations to meet the requirements of the Parliamentary service
- Ensure compliance with policies, guidelines and other regulatory requirements and safety standards governing transportation and maintaining documentation and records
- Provide technical support in establishing and implementing a system for vehicle fleet allocation, scheduling and routing, documentation, registration and planned maintenance
- Monitor and analyse data to assess the performance of transportation initiatives
- Assist as may be requested by departments in the implementation of any aspect of safety programmes
- Assess training needs and implement appropriate programmes for the development of the department
- Monitor the allocation and movement of all official vehicles and report all incidents of misuse
- Prepare the department’s annual budget
- Perform any other duties that the Clerk may assign to Parliament

Qualification Required & Experience
- A good first degree in Mechanical Engineering, Transportation Planning and Management, Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a relevant discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 9 years of post-qualification work experience plus a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with at least 3 years in a position analogous to Assistant Director I in a public service institution, OR
- A master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering logistics, supply chain management or a relevant discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification work experience and at least 3 years in a position analogous to Assistant Director I in a public service institution
Age Limit: Applicants should not be older than 45 on the date of appointment to the post, except when they have been employed by a public service institution or state agency.
