The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) is looking for a qualified, goal-oriented and results-driven person with exceptional qualities for appointment to the position below: Senior Legal Officer

Job Purpose

  • To provide technical and operational support for the efficient and effective performance of the legal functions of the commission

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collate data for the formulation of policies
  • Facilitate the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, programmes and guidelines for the unit
  • Implement the business procedures, processes and systems for efficient and effective administration and management of resources of the unit
  • Supervise the development and implementation of legal strategies
  • Supervise prosecution in legal and administrative proceedings
  • Represent the commission in court
  • Provide inputs for the interpretation of laws, rules and regulations
  • Liaise with other directorates of the commission to ensure compliance with laws, rules and regulations
  • Liaise with the Attorney General’s Department and other stakeholders for the preparation and review of legal documents and processes
  • Supervise the preparation of draft legal documents
  • Provide inputs for legal advice
  • Prepare the work plan and budget of the unit
  • Prepare and submit the annual and other periodic reports of the unit
  • Supervise and appraise the performance of immediate subordinate staff

Qualification Required & Experience

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Law, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration or any other related discipline from an accredited tertiary institution
  • Must have been called to the Ghana bar
  • A minimum of 4 years of post-call relevant work experience in a reputable organisation
  • Must pass a selection interview conducted by the commission in collaboration with the public service commission
